Pangaea Primer

Pangaea Primer        blackgrass

What it is

Pangaea Primer is an agricultural product that enhances the performance of clodinafop-propargyl based plant protection products against resistant strains of black-grass (Alopecurus myosuroides) in cereals and broad-leaf crops.

How it is applied

Pangaea Primer is a pre-spray product to be applied few hours before the application of the clodinafop-propargyl based plant protection product. Time-delay is temperature dependent with an optimum of 8 hours at temperatures below 13 °C to 4 hours under warmer conditions.

How it works

Pangaea Primer does not have pesticidal effect itself but allows to overcome resistance by temporarily blocking the detoxification mechanisms of the target pest. Pangaea Primer provides control over strains of black-grass showing both ACC-ase target site and enhanced metabolism resistance mechanisms.

How it was developed and tested

Pangaea Primer is based on a revolutionary patented technology developed by Rothamsted Research in collaboration with other world’s leading research centres. Extensive field trials have been carried out by recognised centres of excellence over the last years across the UK in high pressure stations under different environmental conditions. Additional trials against further resistant black-grass strains are currently ongoing. Pangaea Primer is currently subject of patent application.
